Thomas Nelson Duvall

March 30, 1946 — January 14, 2006

Thomas Nelson Duvall, age 59, of Corbin, died at home on January 14, 2006. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 30, 1946; graduated from Sayville High School on Long Island, New York, in 1964, served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971, and graduated from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina in 1973. His teaching career spanned a total of twenty-one years in Charleston, South Carolina, where he taught the behaviorally handicapped and autistic adolescents and young adults of high school age. Changing gears in 1994-95, he brought his family home to Corbin and began a career in technology working to care for the computer labs at Barbourville Independent School District and for the Knox County Board of Education at Knox Central High School.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Dena Marie, father Herbert, and mother Anne.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Ernestine Duvall; daughters Glenda Duvall of Corbin, Ruth Sevinsky of Columbia, South Carolina, and son-in-law David Sevinsky, and grandchildren, Jennifer, David and April;  One brother, John E. Duvall and sister-in-law, Rebecca also survive him.
He was a man of integrity and honesty. He was a beloved husband and father, a good neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends after 3:30 pm Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 until the time of the funeral service at 5:30 pm at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Doyle Bunch officiating.
