Virgie D. Sevier Carpenter, 70, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Baptist Health Lexington.
Born in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late Eunice and Lorene Harmon Mason. She was a homemaker and Pentecostal by faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ross Sevier; brother, Jerry Mason; and sister, Beulah Hensley.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Carpenter; children: Sandie Bryant (Ted), Jeff Sevier (Angie), Wayne Sevier (Kim), Lisa Burner (Joe Wright), Roger Sevier, Paul Sevier (Kim), Scott Sevier (Dawn), Stacy Sevier (Shana), and Rodney Sevier; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers: Jim Mason and wife, and Nathan Mason (Lee); sister, Sylvia Lanham (Herman); several nieces, nephews, family and friends, including special cousin and friend Ruth Lanham, and friend Ron Houck.
Funeral service is at 2pm Saturday, Nov. 22, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Lewis and Paul Sevier officiating. Burial will be in the Lynn Camp Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Sevier, Wayne Sevier, Paul Sevier, Scott Sevier, Stacy Sevier, Rodney Sevier, Aaron Sevier, and Roger Sevier.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Friday, Nov. 21, at the funeral home.
