A.J. Heaberlin, age 92, passed away on Saturday January 11, 2014 at Laurel Heights in London.
He was born in Wise, Virginia and was a Veteran of the US Army-Air Corps. Serving during World War II in the CBI Theater, he was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters. Mr. Heaberlin was a pilot and loved to fly.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Dorothy G. Heaberlin; Parents, L.D. Heaberlin and Sarah J. Heaberlin; Brother, L.J. Heaberlin; and Sisters, Marjorie Fowler, Florence Paker, and Marie Wilkerson.
He is survived by his Son, Henry Heaberlin.
Funeral service for Mr. Heaberlin will be held at 2pm on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
