Agravaine Long

May 29, 1923 — March 7, 2004

Agravaine Long, 80, of Clarksville, Indiana and formerly of Corbin, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2004 at his residence in Clarksville.
Mr. Long was a retired brakeman for the CSX Railroad, a former Kentucky State Trooper, and a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WWII. He was a member of the Park Hill Baptist Church in Corbin and a member of Hugh Harris Lodge #938 F & AM.
Born on May 29, 1923 in Baxter, Kentucky, he was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Flora Dixon Long, his wife Esther Howard Long, two brothers Milus and Ovid Long and two sisters Honora and Faye Long.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Long of Clarksville, Indiana; a brother Floyd F. Long of Springhill, Louisiana; and three sisters Thedda Ladwig of London, Kentucky, Nesta Criger of Boise, Idaho, and Lynette Matre of New Carlisle, Ohio.
Funeral services are at 11 am Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Harlan, Kentucky with military graveside honors.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Friday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin. Masonic rites will be conferred at 7 pm Friday at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
