Alberta Smith Leigh

Alberta Smith Leigh, age 95, passed away on Friday October 9, 2020 at Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation in Corbin, Kentucky. She was born in February 25, 1925 in Laurel County, Kentucky, a daughter to the late Millard and Martha Prewitt Smith. Alberta was a nurse for several years in Frenchburg, KY. She also worked in the Grant County Jail alongside her husband Harold as deputy jailer. Alberta was bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel and was a member of Level Green Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Husband, Harold Leigh; Brothers, Marsh and Earl Smith; and by her Sisters, Freda Smith, Irene Anders, Wilma Arnold, Iva Salmons, and Mildred Nelson. Alberta is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, including a great niece, Brittany Betts, who she helped to raise.
Visitation for Alberta will be from 5-7pm on Wednesday October 14, 2020 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home where her service will begin at 7pm.
Graveside service will be on Thursday at 12noon at Locust Grove Cemetery in Keavy.
Those attending the visitation or funeral are required to social distance and to wear a mask in accordance with COVID guidelines.
