Alma Jean Shelby

Alma Jean Shelby, 80, of Corbin passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in the Christian Health Center.
Born in Bell County, she was a daughter of the late Steeley Coyt and Geneva Cox Rapier.  In addition, she was predeceased by her husband James C. Shelby, her son Glenn Shelby, and sisters Judy Rapier, Betty Jackson, Mary Finch, Donna Hall and Loraine Miller.
During her 9-year residency at the Christian Care Communities, Alma enjoyed the company of many friends there as they crocheted, worked puzzles, and played games.  She belonged to the Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving family members include four sisters: Joyce DeBusk, Elaine Deemer, Ollie Lowe and Billie Jo Brison; a brother Steeley Rapier;  grandsons Josh and James Shelby;  great grandchildren Jaxon, Roman, Jayleigh, Abigail and Jayden Shelby;  and numerous nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Alma Shelby will begin at noon Tuesday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.  Her funeral will follow there at 2:00 pm with Bro. Randy Steely officiating.  Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery.
