Alpha Mae Prewitt

Alpha Mae Prewitt, 82, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, July 3,2007 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Born in Laurel County to the late Robert and Stella Durham Whitaker, she was a homemaker and was a member of the Laurel River Missionary Baptist Church in Laurel County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Charles Helfenberger of Oak Ridge; three brothers, Joe Whitaker of Oak Ridge, Herbert Whitaker of London and George Whitaker of London; and brother-in-law, James White of Lexington.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Leslie Prewitt of Oak Ridge; her daughter, Joan Miller and husband Thomas of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Michael Miller and wife Kristin of Decatur, Georgia, Anna White and husband Brad of Camden, Arkansas, Kenneth Miller and wife Cristi of Oak Ridge and John Miller of Oak Ridge; great-grandchildren, Jake, Ryan and Brady Miller of Decatur, Georgia, BriAnna, Jaime and Dylan White of Camden, Arkansas, and Karmen and Samantha Miller of Oak Ridge; sisters, Mary Wagner and husband Damon of Largo, Florida, Ivel White of Lexington, Kentucky, and Sarah Sherman and husband Inman of London, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Elain Whitaker of Oak Ridge and Elma Whitaker of London; and numerous nieces and nephews, all who mourn her passing.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 5, at the Worley Cemetery, 5th Street Road in Corbin, with Rev. David Phillips officiating.
The family of Alpha Mae Prewitt will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, July 4, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, with a devotional prayer at the end of visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you visit a friend or loved one who is homebound or in a nursing home.
