Arko Lawson, Sr.

May 7, 1935 — March 7, 2006

Arko Lawson, Sr., 70, of Corbin, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born May 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Thomas and Ida Couch Lawson. Mr. Lawson owned an upholstery store and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving during the Korean conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Flora Lawson, his step-mother Charity Lawson, and his brother Ambers Lawson.
He is survived by his children, Dennis Lawson, Elaine Rose Lawson, Arko Lawson Jr., Cindy Gabbert, Tracy Mason and Tammy Brock; a brother, Grant Lawson and wife Mossie; sister, Georgia Ward; step-brothers, Harold Knuckles and Walter Knuckles; and half-brother, Cecil Wagers; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Park Hill Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in the Wilton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00-9:00 pm Wednesday.
The Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
