Arlene Lay Pfaff, 74, of Louisville passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville.
She was born in Williamsburg, KY and grew up attending White Oak Missionary Baptist Church. Arlene attended Cumberland College, where she earned a Bachelor's in education. She went on to earn a Master's in special education from the University of Louisville. She worked as a teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools for 36 years, and retired from Audubon Traditional Elementary School in Louisville. In her spare time, Arlene enjoyed flower gardening and baking cakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Nola Taylor Lay; twin sister Aileen Lay; brother Ernie Lee Lay; and sister-in-law Mickey Ann Smith.
Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Keith Edward Pfaff; daughter Rhonda Glennon (Alan) of San Francisco, CA; sisters Florine Cathers (Gene) of Corbin, Donna Jones of Williamsburg, and Retha Orrick (Paul) of Oakland, IL; brother Ralph Lay (Connie) of Decatur, OH; brothers-in-law Ron Pfaff (Donna) of Somerset and Larry Smith of Corbin; and special friends Karen Foster and Kay Little of Louisville.
Visitation for Arlene will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at the funeral home Saturday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
