Arthur Smith

Arthur Smith, 82, was born June 1, 1921 and departed this life on May 5, 2004.
He was united in marriage to Mary Steward. To this union nine children were born. Surviving are Daughters Esslan Smith and husband Verlin of Flatlick, Nadine Smith and husband Bobby Ray of Gray, and Martha Reeves and husband Bill of Gray; Sons, Earl Smith and wife Darlene of Gray, Earnest Smith and wife Kathy of Gray, Don Smith and wife Pauline, and Willie Smith and wife Teresa of Sardinia,Ohio. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was also united in marriage to Susan Smallwood of McKee, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his father Pleaz Smith, his mother Anna Lee Edwards Smith and his four Sisters Matildia Keen, Ethel Rice, Fannie Swafford, Mealie Smith and by his three Brothers Albert Smith, Andy Smith and William Smith; one Son Herman Smith; and an infant daughter Christine Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Medlin and Rev. Donnie Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9 :00 pm on both Thursday, May 6th, and Friday, May 7th.
