Mrs. Bama Darlene Newman Smith passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Continue Care Hospital in Corbin.
She was born on August 17, 1941 to Eugene Wilson Newman and Thelma Corine Carpenter Newman. She loved her family with all of her heart. She was very proud of her three grandkids and her great-grandson. She was married to the love of her life Kenneth Ray Smith to whom she was married for 54 years. Bama enjoyed going fishing and attending car shows with Kenneth, and watching the show Family Feud.
Bama was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Saundra Eugene Newman.
She is survived by her son Kenneth Eugene (Gene) Smith and wife Rita; daughters Saundra Corine Church and husband Greg, and Victoria Raelene Kinney and husband Steve; grandchildren Julie Michelle Morgan and husband Brad, Amelia Anna Michelle Vaughn and husband Houston, and Steven Timothy Tyler Kinney; great-grandson Waylon George Morgan; sister-in-law Phyllis Dugger and husband Curt; sister-in-law Patsy Smith; brother-in-law Ernest Cupp; special aunt and uncle Jean Smith and husband George; special friend Peggy Eubanks; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins to mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Asher, Edwin Hensley, Richard Hensley, David Brewer, Curt Dugger, and Ronnie Thompson.
