Barbara Marie Scharr

Barbara Marie Scharr, age 66, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at her home.
Born in Goshen, New York she was the daughter of the late Bud and Jane Van der Heide. Barbara worked for the Corbin Independent Food Service, where she made lifelong friends and fulfilled her passion of cooking for her kids. Away from work, she enjoyed spending her time gardening and had a love for flowers. She also loved spending time with her special dog Ollie, he was her sidekick. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Phil Scharr.
She is survived by her stepson, Philip "Macy" Scharr (Danielle) of Barbourville; Grandchildren, Camden, Emmalyn, and soon to be Greyson Scharr; Sisters, Janice Martin (Dave) of New York and Alice Van der Heide of Michigan; Brother, Bernie Van der Heide (Kathy) of Michigan; 6 nephews and nieces; Special Friends, Suzy Mayton, Janie Keith, and Kathy Jones; and numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held for Barbara Marie Scharr at 7:00 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Pastor Quentin Young officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday May 22nd at the funeral home.
