Belvard Gene Shepherd

Belvard Gene Shepherd, 78, a resident of Baptist Housing, Corbin passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 in Continue Care Hospital.
He was born near Prestonsburg, KY, a son of the late Bryson "Brice" and Mellie Whitaker Shepherd. In addition, Gene was predeceased by brothers Charles and Lloyd Shepherd, and sisters Elsie Patterson, Myrtle Bonnough, Ethel Brown, Susan Johnson and Katherine Williams.
He attended the Wednesday night services held at Baptist Housing by Trinity Baptist Temple, and enjoyed his personal treasure hunts.
Survivors include eight children: Linda Jackson and husband Steve, Donald Shepherd and wife Christa, Steven Shepherd and wife Marlene, Mark Shepherd and wife Nicki, Elizabeth Dixon and husband Stacey, Leonard Shepherd, Benjamin Shepherd and wife Tracie, and Nolan Shepherd and wife Jennifer; his best friend and companion, Rose Cornett; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Beth Patkus and Ruth Muck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene's visitation will begin at 10 am Friday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. His funeral will follow at noon led by Pastor Lucas Hart.
Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
