Bessie Marie Storms

Bessie Marie Storms, 92, of Cherry Avenue in North Corbin, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center. She had been residing with her granddaughter Shirley Marie Karr on Earl Howard Road in Keavy.
Born in Wilton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James Alexander Helton and Louetta Mabes Helton. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Apostolic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawton General Storms; brothers, Arlis Byrley Helton and Jesse Edward Helton; sisters, Myrethia Lee Helton, Orphia Brillard Underwood and Rudell Helton.
She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Lawson of Corbin; one sister, Creasie Crawford of Corbin; six grandchildren, Jerry Lawson and family of Corbin, Shirley Karr and husband Leland of Keavy, Charlotte Davis and husband Steve of Keavy, Cheryl Reeves and husband Anthony of Keavy, Doris Smith and husband Dennis of Woollum, and Thomas (Tom) Lawson of Corbin; 17 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Welch and Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Reeves, Dennis Smith, Christopher Bunch, John Cornett, Steve Davis and Christopher Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Wednesday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
