Bill Crook, 81, born July 27, 1941 in Corbin, Kentucky, peacefully passed to his heavenly home on May 29, 2023.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sharon, and Children: Scott (Cindy) Crook, Jeff (Becky) Crook, and Mindy (Chad) Hays. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Gracie Crook, Dylan Crook, Carson Crook, Reece Crook, and Linda Hays. He has joined grandson Jackson Crook in their heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Wilma Crook.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Corbin. He worked for years in sales and was a salesman at heart, with many innovative ideas that benefited all of those involved.
He had a tremendous love for family including those that came before as well as his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all of their activities.
He also loved playing and coaching softball for over 40 years, and was selected to the American Softball Association (ASA) Kentucky Hall of Fame in 2003.
Bill loved Corbin and the Corbin Redhounds. He was part of the broadcast team for Corbin Redhound football replays with Don Estep and Dale Johnson. He authored a column in the Corbin This Week newspaper entitled “Looking Back” that revisited the history of sports in Corbin. He was selected to the Corbin High School Hall of Fame in 2014.
Visitation will be held from 12-2pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow 2pm with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.
Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin, Ky.
The Crook family invites friends to join them for a fellowship meal at David’s Steak House following the committal service.
