Bill Wayne Root

Bill Wayne Root, age 67, of Keavy, KY passed away at his home.
Born in Corbin, KY, he was the son of the late Doris and Russel Root. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked for the Corbin Fire Department and later retired from the lumber company. He was happily married to his loving wife Jean Carol Root for 38 years. Bill loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-sister, Melanie Raddick, and his stepsister, Pam Principi.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his step-mother, Carrie Root; two children, Daniel Root and wife Pamela and Clinton Root; four grandchildren, Julianna Grace Root, Carson Isaiah Roark, Jared Seth Root, and Kasen Rylee-Root; two full siblings, David Root and wife Cordelia, and Linda Legar and husband Johnny; half-sister, Carrie Hilton; two half-brothers, Phillip Root and Michael Root; two stepbrothers, Roger Blanton and Tommy Blanton and wife Nancy; stepsister, Harvetta Hayes; and by numerous other family members and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2pm on Friday, September 24th at the funeral home with Rev. Johnny Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, KY with military honors.
