Billie Frances Gilbert, 70, of Corbin, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin.
Born in Whitley County, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Nola Mason Mitchell. Billie was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and had been a sales clerk at Belk Simpson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Gene Gilbert; son, Alonzo Grubb Jr.; brothers, Quinton Mitchell and Robert Edward Mitchell; and sisters, Lula Smith and Lillie Mitchell.
She is survived by her son Joe Roskopf of Corbin; two daughters, Brenda Gray and husband Randy of Corbin and Vickie Wagner and husband Danne of Corbin; step-son, Bennie Gilbert of northern Kentucky; grandchildren, Staci Shriner and husband BJ of Williamsburg, Joey Gilbert of northern Kentucky, Scarlet Wagner of Corbin, Brittany Gray of Corbin, Dustin Gilbert of northern Kentucky, Joseph Matthew Roskopf of Corbin, and Misty Brook Roskopf of Corbin; great-grandson, Caleb Shriner; great-granddaughter, Waverlee Shriner; sisters, Mazie Adkins of Corbin and Onedda Eaton of Louisville; and numerous other family and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Benny Bush officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery at Faber.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Shriner, Danne Wagner, Jim Gray, Jeff Gray, Josh Hollingsworth and Joseph Matthew Roskopf.
The family of Billie Frances Gilbert will receive friends from 12-2 pm Tuesday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
