Billy E. Barton, 60, of Lily, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born June 1, 1944 in Corbin to Leslie Rose and Minnie Barton, he was a U.S. Army veteran that served in Vietnam. Mr. Barton was a self-employed construction worker and was Pentecostal by faith.
Preceding him in death was his mother Minnie Barton. He is survived by his wife Barbara Coffey Barton of Lily; one son, Ryan Blake Tompkins and wife Merkie of Corbin; one daughter, Erica Lee Jackson and husband Gary of Corbin; two grandchildren, Ryan Austin Tompkins and Bayle Daniel Tompkins; his mother-in-law, Gloria Coffey of Corbin; special friends, Eugene and Judy Sasser; cousins, Charlie Barton, Truman Martin, Lois Brock, Ricky Martin and Lawrence Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Richard Rogers and Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will be in the Stansbury Cemetery in Corbin with Graveside Military services conducted by the American Legion Post 88 of Corbin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Russell, Bryan Coffey, Gene Coffey, Jason Coffey, Roger Coffey and Charles Barton.
