Billy Ray Smith, age 56, of Emlyn, KY, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at St. Joseph Hosptial in Lexington, KY.
Billy was a man of many talents and interests, but one of his favorites was tinkering with cars. His fascination with automobiles found a perfect outlet in his career as a taxi driver, a job he cherished for over 16 years, and even in retirement, Billy's love for cars never faded. He was a witty conversationalist, an adventurous explorer, and a loving father and son. Billy was a man of faith, his love for his community and God evident in his regular attendance at Emlyn Baptist Church. His life was a testament to the things that mattered most to him: faith, family, and love.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Smith, and stepfather, Glenn Capps.
Billy is survived by his son, Glen Smith; mother, Mildred Capps; fiancé, May Smith; sister, Janie Peace; stepdaughter, Samantha Gross; step-grandchildren, Jada Hudson and Nicky Hudson; great-nephews and nieces, Kyle Hall, Gabriel Collette, and Mendy Collette; and by many friends.
Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Rev. Ronnie Bowman officiating.
