Burgine Mitchell

Burgine Mitchell, age 93, of Corbin, passed away on Friday May 18, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Cawood, Kentucky, on April 1, 1925, a son to the late Steve and Mintie Mitchell.  He was a US Navy veteran having served in both World War II and Korea; a retired telephone engineer, artist, gardener, and loved music and playing instruments.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Elfleda Burton Mitchell and Brothers, Daniel and Eugene Mitchell; and son-in-law David Bayles.
Burgine is survived by his Daughter, Sandra Kay Mitchell Bayles and significant other, Tom Jones; Brothers and Sisters and half Brothers and half Sisters; Loreen Whitman, Alice Holcomb, Jack Mitchell, Billy Joe Mitchell, Willard Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Fern West, Phyllis Gross, Juanita Brown, Kila Viox, Jim Mitchell, Steve Mitchell Jr, and John L. Mitchell; and by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memorial service will be held at  1:00pm on Saturday May 26, 2018 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, with Greg Osborne officiating.  Military honors by Keavy DAV, Chapter 158.
