Carrie L. Calder, age 97, of Keavy, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at her residence.
Born in Harlan County, Ky, she was the daughter of the Sullivan and Nora Bays Fields. Carrie served her country in the Civil Air Patrol during WWII at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and she was a devoted member of Level Green Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Calder; son, Charles David Calder; daughter, Veva Jean Calder Campbell; and by nine siblings.
She is survived by five children, William Kenneth Calder (Dottie), Alma Faye Godsey (Jack), Michael K. Calder (Jessie), Jeff Calder (Lois), and Myra Lynn Calder Ray (Martin); son-in-law, Jerry Campbell; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Virgil Fields and Bill Fields; and by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held from 12-2pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will follow at 2pm with Rev. Raymond Hampton and Rev. Delmon Sizemore officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chappell Cemetery.
