Carrie Root, age 92, of Chicago, IL, passed into eternal life on Sunday January 30, 2022. Born in Kentucky, she was the beloved wife of the late Russell Root; loving mother of Roger (Karen) Blanton, Harvetta (the late Danny) Hayes, Tommy (Nancy) Blanton, the late Pamela (Philip) Principe, Michael (Tammy) Root, the late Melanie Radick, Carrie "Fran" (Nick) Hilton, Philip (Tara) Root; step mother to Linda (John) Leger, David (Cordelia) Root, the late Bill (Jean) Root, beloved daughter of the late James Robert and Delia Hodge; fond grandmother and great great grandmother of many, dear sister of Loretta (the late Dewy) Hurst, the late Gladys (Hodge) Lockaby, Claude Hodge, Clarence Hodge, Leo Hodge, Junior Hodge, James Hodge, Delia (Dee) Hodge Profit, Cecil (Jessie) Hodge, Hallie (Hodge) Pennington, fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-9pm on Monday February 7, 2022 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Her funeral service will then be held at 10am on Tuesday February 8th at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Vicky Powers (her granddaughter) officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky
