Charles M. "Red" McHargue, age 76, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011, at Corbin Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Kentucky, he was the son of the late George and Mabel Petrey McHargue. Charles had worked as a professional painter and was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George E. McHargue; and three sisters, Mary Woods, Irene Sexton, and Ruth McHargue.
He is survived by his wife, Monica McHargue; children, Alma Barton and Tammy Mitchell; two sisters, Geraldine Bunch and Ester Peace; and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren, all who mourn his passing.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm Thursday, April 28, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master St., Corbin, with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. A funeral procession will follow for a graveside service at the McHargue Cemetery in Corbin. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 88.
