Chester B. Woolum, Jr., 73, of Corbin, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born October 11, 1931 in Knox County, he was the son of the late Chester B. Woolum, Sr. and the late Carrie Campbell Woolum. Chester was a former employee of Kroger and also retired bus supervisor for the Knox County School system. He was a member of the Lynn Camp Baptist Church and a twenty year veteran of the Kentucky Army National Guard serving during the Korean and Vietnam eras.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Billy Woolum and his sister Joyce Garland.
He is survived by his wife Juanita Woolum; son, Kyle J. Woolum of Corbin; daughter Lee Ann Hummel of Corbin; two step-daughters, Linda Jackson and Diana Jordan, both of Corbin; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, Oct. 7, 2005 at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Herschel Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Campbell Cemetery in Knox County. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the 1-149 Infantry, Barbourville, KY.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
