Christine Root-Tucker

Christine Root-Tucker, 62, of Corbin, passed away Monday, August 29, 2005 at Corbin Nursing Home.
Born May 12, 1943 in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Smith and Lillie Mae Smith Sawyers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Obie Tucker. Christine was a homemaker and a member of the West Corbin Baptist Church.
She is survived by her first husband Archie Root, Jr. of Michigan; three children, Betty Lou Bishop, Tina Shelton and Monica Zacklan, all of Michigan; grandchildren, Erik Kitter, Katherine Kitter, Crystal Shelton, Terry Shelton, Robert Shelton, Christopher Root, Ashley Skrumbellos and Corey Zacklan; seven brothers and sisters, George Smith, Viola Smith, Mayetta Beaumont, Maven Sawyers, Junior Sawyers, Cleta Gross and Bill Sawyers; one great-grandchild, Savana Faye Castillo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends who will mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, Sept. 2, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the funeral at 4:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
