Claude Hobert Martin, age 88, of Corbin, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin.
He was born on November 19, 1917 in Corbin to the late Henry Martin and Lula Bingham Martin. He was a retired Machinist from Schmutz Manufacturing in Louisville. He was a 50 year member of the Machinist and Aerospace Union, and a member of West Corbin Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Son, Bobby Dean Martin in 2005; Sisters, Ethel Walker and Gladys Forte; Brothers, Robert Martin and Luther B. Martin.
He is survived by his wife Verla C. Harber Martin whom he married on December 5, 1939. He is also survived by his Daughter, Donna Marie Thompson and husband Keith; Daughter-in-Law, Jackie Martin; Granchildren; Billy Joe Martin and wife Vicki, John Claude Martin and wife Angel, Melissa Lynne Furches, and Sara Beth Brutscher and husband Kristopher; Brothers, Norma Martin Pennington and husband Charles, and Henry M. Martin and wife June; numerous Beloved Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends who will mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 2:00pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Bingham Cemetery in Corbin. Pallbearers will be Larry Martin, Bill Martin, Timmy Pennington, David Pennington, David Lennon, and Clay Martin.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 6-9pm and on Monday from 12noon until the time of the service at 2pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
