Claude Walter Humphrey, Jr.

Claude Walter Humphrey, Jr., age 65, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. 

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Claude Humphrey Sr. and Christine "Margie" Humphrey. A proud 1976 graduate of Lynn Camp High School, he was a beacon of strength and wisdom for those around him. 

Claude was an avid card player, his weekends often filled with the joyous clamor of a family card game. The love and warmth he exuded during these cherished moments painted a vivid picture of the man he was - someone who found immense happiness in the simplest of pleasures. 

His Baptist faith was not just a belief for Claude; it was a way of life. His unwavering faith was a testament to his resilience, guiding him through the ups and downs of life with grace and fortitude. More than anything, his faith and family were his greatest treasures, never failing to bring a glow to his eyes and a smile to his lips. 

In addition to his father, Claude, Sr., he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Humphrey Sr., and Garry Humphrey. 

Claude is survived by his mother, Christine “Margie” (Medlin) Humphrey; his “Lady”, Trish Humphrey; daughters, Claudette “Jane” Saylor (Anthony), Billie Brennan (Tim), and Stephanie Owens (Marvin); grandchildren, Tiler Humphrey (Kacy), Kristina Burkhart (DJ), Stephenie Paige Messer (Josh), Madison Owens, Mackenzie Owens, Quinton Owens, Xavier Owens, and Ian Brennan; great grandchildren, Braxton Humphrey and Liam Burkhart; sister, Sandra McMillian (Ronald); brothers, Ron Timko (Leslie) and Christopher “Chris” Humphrey (Erica); and by several nieces, nephews, family, and friends. 

Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, and from 11-1 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the funeral home, where his funeral service will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Ivan Siler and Rev. "Bo" Miracle officiating.  

Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
