Damon Carter Henderson

Damon Carter Henderson, age 3, of Athens, AL, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville, TN.

Damon filled our lives with laughter and joy. Known for his adventurous nature, he had a special fondness for superheroes and dinosaurs. He aspired to be a police officer, a true testament to his courageous spirit and protective nature. Always energetic, he seemed to bounce off walls, his laughter and enthusiasm filling any room.

Damon's legacy lies in the heart of every life he touched. He was fearlessly protective, especially of his big sister whom he loved dearly. His sweet nature, coupled with his contagious humor, made him a beacon of light in our lives. Damon's courageous spirit, his adventurous soul, his boundless energy, and above all, his big heart, will be forever etched in our memories. We will always remember Damon as a spirited superhero, fearlessly protecting his family and spreading joy with his energetic antics.

He was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents, Shirley Henderson, Earl Henderson, Pamela Evans, and Mildred Kinder; and great-great-aunt, Debra Medlin

He is survived by his parents, Derek Nathaniel Henderson and Alison Brooke McCoy Henderson; sister, Ariel Henderson; brother, Theodore Henderson; grandparents, Natasha Henderson, David Henderson, Carrie McCoy, and Jonathan Evans (Dare); great grandparents, Lori Henderson, Danny Henderson, Allen Medlin, and Annie and Earnest Marcum; aunts, Natalee Henderson, Ashley Browning, and Avery Evans; uncles, Daniel Henderson, Dakota Henderson, Tyler Evans, Ryder Evans and Jared Browning; great aunts, Brianna Martin, Maria Marcum, Joy Horn, Crystal Cohn, Susan Birnbaum (Jon); cousins, Wiliam Nabors, Weston Nabors, Jaxton Browning, Avery Martin, and Cooper Martin, and by a host of family, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11-2pm on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 2pm with Rev. Brian Murphy officiating.

Damon loved superheroes and keepsakes, Derek and Alison ask those in attendance to bring a special keepsake to leave with Damon.
