Dan B. Watkins

Dan B. Watkins, 91, of Gray, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 15, 2008.
Born in Blackwater in Knox County, he was the son of the late Bige and Lucy Root Watkins. He was a 50 year member of the Gray Holiness Church and had been self-employed as a farmer and with a saw mill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Watkins and George "Alva" Watkins, his son Charles "Bennie" Watkins Sr. and great-grandson, Daniel Keith Meadows.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Sallie "Zelma" Watkins; son, Pastor Dan E. Watkins and wife Sharon; brother, Edger Watkins and wife Irene of Indiana; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and many more friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday, April 17, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Bro. Clay Canada, Bro. R.P. Edwards and Bro. Claude Medlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
