Daniel B. Reeder Sr., 91, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Hancock County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Jesse Robert and Matilda Hurrell Reeder. He had been a switchman for the L & N Railroad and was a member of the Buffalo Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doxie Seals Reeder; son, Cloye Reeder; and 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by seven children, Doris Shoemaker and husband Herbert of Keavy, Daniel Reeder Jr. and wife Peggy of Corbin, Aubrey Reeder and wife Wilma of London, Robert Reeder and wife Billie of Corbin, Otis Reeder Sr. and wife Irene of Corbin, Clara Jean White and husband Wayne of Corbin, and John Reeder and wife Sheila of Corbin; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Allie Mae Collins of Harlan; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Jones and Rev. Vernon Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Worley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men's Sunday school class at Buffalo Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-9pm Wednesday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Buffalo Baptist Church.
