Delmer W. Powell

Delmer W. Powell, age 94, of Lily, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Clay County, he was the son of the late John and Elsie Spurlock Powell and had been a farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Marie Powell; son, Wallace Powell; brothers, Wood, Bob, Brookshire, Eugene and Buster.
He is survived by his children: Donald Joe Powell of Lily, Woodrow Powell and wife Janet of Lily, Ronnie Powell and wife Carolyn of Lily, Brenda Burkhart of Lily, Richard Powell and wife Glenda of Lexington, Cathy Hillard of Lily, Gary Powell and wife Jayne of Lily, and Delmes Powell and wife Linda of Woodbine; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Roberts and Bessie Walker, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 2pm Friday, Jan. 7, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin.
