Deloris Carroll, known affectionately as "Ann" to her loved ones, was born on November 6, 1943, in Corbin, Kentucky, Deloris crafted a life filled with service, adventure, and an undeniable love for her family. She was a woman of remarkable tenacity and character
Deloris demonstrated her courage and dedication to her country by enlisting in the US Airforce, before transferring to the US Army where she served with honor as a drill sergeant. These experiences shaped her into a woman of discipline and integrity. Later she worked as a receptionist for the Cumberland Valley Area Development District. Ann's professional life was characterized by a strong work ethic, an attribute she held with immense pride.
Beyond her career, Deloris was known for her infectious laughter and her unwavering passion for Bingo—an activity that brought her immense joy and was a source of many cherished memories. Her zest for life was contagious, and she had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel special and loved.
She is survived by her twin brother, Wayne Earls, and his wife June. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Susie Earls, and her siblings, Luther Bryant, Charles Bryant, Jessie Collins, Freda Alsip, and Henry Sturgill.
Visitation will be held from 10 am until 12noon on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held at 12noon with Rev. Greg McClain officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin.
