Dewey Bradley, 84, of Corbin, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday morning, March 15, 2015. Mr. Bradley served as teacher and principal at Oak Grove Elementary School for over 30 years and was an active member and deacon at Central Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Herbert and Lillian Bradley, and sister, Thelma Gossett. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Hickey Bradley; their four children, Terrell Bradley (Val), Teresa Tuttle (Gene), Tim Bradley (Sandy), and Tamara Goins (David); nine grandchildren, Kara Bradley, Brian Bradley, Brad Tuttle, Aaron Tuttle, Jason Tuttle, Christina Bradley, Wesley Bradley, Chase Goins, and Whitney Addington (Uriah); three great-grandchildren, Braylan Tuttle, Colton Goins, and John Lincoln Addington; siblings Marvin Bradley (Joyce), Elizabeth Liford, Norma Brown, and Wiladene Hart (Johnny); and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Dewey’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The Cornelius Sunday school class from Central Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. He will be laid to rest at Sutton-Pemberton Cemetery.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Fugate and Dr. Terrell Bradley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Wednesday, March 18, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home and from 11-1 Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org) in memory of Dewey Bradley.
