Doc Mitchell

Doc Mitchell, 65, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at St. Joseph London.
Born in Corbin, he was the son of the late Lando and Clara Mitchell. Doc had worked as a trucker and heavy equipment operator. He was Baptist by faith, and enjoyed yard work, flower gardening, and was an avid animal lover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Sylvia Wilson, Preston Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, Shirley Mitchell, Helen Mitchell and Danny Mitchell; and nephews Dale Mitchell and David Fox; father and mother-in-law E.B. and Colvin Middleton.
He is survived by his wife Diane Mitchell; sons Doc Dewayne Mitchell and Dakota Mitchell; daughter Holly Mitchell Stone and husband Tweeter; grandchildren Sabrina Mills, Joshua Batchelor and Zoie Batchelor; siblings Kenneth Mitchell and wife Peggy, Deby Cornelius and husband Gerald, Judy Lowe and husband Ray, Anna Humfleet and husband Joe, Fran Cutrer and husband Mike, David Turner and wife Teresa, and Vicky Fox and husband Randy; sisters-in-law Sandra Mitchell and Beverly Mitchell; and by a host of nieces and nephews. We also want to remember his very special nurse Chrissy Widner who Doc referred to as his "little girl."
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 6, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Carson Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Lando Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
