Donald Eugene Smith

Donald Eugene Smith, age 82, of Springfield, Kentucky formerly of Tennessee, passed away on Thursday June 20, 2024, at his home where he was surrounded by his family.

Donald or as he was known to many "Coach" dedicated 57 years of his life to coaching and teaching which he loved, and where he touched many lives over those 57 years.  He was Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Daisy Smith, and by a sister, Rosalee McQueen.

He is survived by his wife Nina Smith of Springfield, KY; daughters, Theresa Martlock (Brendan) of Springfield, KY, and Sherry Pinson of Parsons, TN; three step-sons, Brian Skinner (Ashely) of Corbin, Aaron Skinner of Atlanta, GA, and Dustin Skinner of Land-o-Lakes, Fl; brother, Edward Smith (Rita) of Texas; grandchildren, Kyle Pinson (Murphy), of Parsons, TN, Kayla Reeder of Springfield, KY, Craig Pinson of Kansas, Jessica Lewis (Joe) of Springfield, KY, Jacob Martlock of Springfield, KY, and Breanna Skinner of Corbin; great grandchildren, Logan Mitchell of Bee Creek, KY, Craig Pinson of Sacramento, CA, Averee Reeder of Williamsburg, KY, Emilia Nolan of Williamsburg, KY, Grayson Lewis of Springfield, KY, Evelyn Lewis of Springfield, KY, and Josiah Reeder of Springfield, KY; and by a host of nieces, nephews, and players who will all miss him dearly.

Visitation will be from 1pm until 3pm on Tuesday July 2, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 3pm with Pastor Scott Phipps officiating.  Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky.  Pall bearers will be David Mitchell, Jerry Nolen, Rob Branch, Johnathan Galyon, and Ralph Smith.
