Donald Ray Shumate, Jr., 19, of Corbin, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005 at his residence.
Born May 13, 1986 in Barbourville, he was the son of Donald R. and Patricia Campbell Shumate, Sr. He was a 2004 graduate of Corbin High School and was employed by McDonald's on Cumberland Falls Hwy. as a grill cook, and was a volunteer at the Corbin Bingo Parlor. He served in the National Guard at Fort Benning, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Don Shumate; his aunt, Glenna Shumate; his uncle, Bufford Shumate, and lots of other family that will be watching over him to help him find his way.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Trish Shumate; brother, Eddie Shumate; grandmother, Phyllis Shumate; grandparents, Elmer and Cora Campbell; and his cousins, Brittany, Jarred, Keisha and Katie Campbell, Mark Shumate, Becky Huddleston and her husband Mike and son Tyler.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Robert King and Pastor Roger Miller officiating.
Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery at Faber.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Shumate, Glendell Shumate, Mark Shumate, Benny Neal, Roger Hausman, and Ed Hamblin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clinton Campbell, Wayne Campbell, Keith Hamblin, Dee Shumate, Anthony Barton and Cody Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Tuesday, May 17, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
