Doris Jean Parsons Grimes

Doris Jean Parsons Grimes, 83, of Hamilton, Ohio went to her heavenly home Wednesday, December 26, 2012, after an extended illness.
She was a Corbin native and 1947 graduate of Lily High School. On September 16, 1950, Jean married the love of her life, Paul E. Grimes. Paul and two sons, Paul Gary (Tari) and Donald (Roxanna) survive to cherish her memory. Two sons, Edward Cameron and Darryl Lynn died at birth.
Other survivors include grandchildren Lori, Matthew, Jessica, and Emily; great grandchildren Christopher, Megan, and Mason; and great-great grandchild Finnley; also a brother Bill Parsons (Mary Lou) of Fairfield, OH and a sister Evelyn Martin of Hamilton, OH.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Ida Parsons, and siblings John Cameron Parsons, Lucy Adaline Hopkins, Clarence Edward Parsons, Carl Vernon Parsons, Glenn Douglas Parsons, Harold L. Parsons, and Allie Faye Lawson.
Jean had a generous heart and always sought to help others. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hamilton and was active in her Keenagers Sunday School Class. She loved caring for her home and helping others, often visiting shut-ins.
Her visitation and funeral were held Sunday, Dec. 30 at the Avance Funeral Home in Fairfield with Dr. Dennis Metzger officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin. Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
