Dorothy Lee Green Pennington, 83, Corbin, Ky. gained her heavenly wings on November 13, 2019 at 12:06 a.m. at the Bluegrass Hospice in Lexington, Ky.
Dorothy was born on September 23, 1936 in Buffalo, NY to the late Flossie Belle McKeehan and William McKinley Green of Corbin. Dorothy graduated from Corbin High School in 1954 and retired from the United States Federal Government where she worked in various departments throughout her career including Social Security Administration and Agricultural Department. She was a current member of the Corbin Ossoli Club, Beta Sigma Pi, and the Friday Afternoon Book Club where she enjoyed her many friends and supporting the community she loved so much. Dorothy was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and top fan of Tiger Woods and Tom Brady. She loved people and found much joy in her many friends. Dorothy attended First Baptist Church in Williamsburg in her last few years where she found much joy.
She is now joyfully reunited with her loving husband Gearl Pennington, Parents William and Flossie Green, Sister Ann Vermilion, Brother Bob Green and many other relatives and friends who have preceded her in death.
Dorothy is survived by a loving family: son Brandon Gearl Pennington, daughter Deedra Lee Pennington, 5 Grandchildren Jeremy Allen Farmer and wife Lindsey, Hailee Nicole Farmer, Alyssa Dawn Farmer Raines and husband Michael, Sara Pennington Sakowich and husband Thomas and Ethan Drake Pennington;  6 Great Grandchildren: Landon Cole Farmer, Dawson Chase Farmer, Kaiden Gearl Sakowich, Hayes Allen Farmer, Hampton Dru Farmer and Haigen Reese Farmer.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 23, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Ky. Visitation at 12:00 and the service begins at 1:00.
Donations in her name can be made to the Corbin Ossoli Club and Corbin Backpack Program.
