Edward Lawrence Metzger

Edward Lawrence Metzger, age 85, born in Dayton, OH, and long-time resident of Corbin, KY, passed away on January 2, 2023, surrounded by loved ones and friends from Avion Palms in Bowling Green, FL.

With rock solid faith, he was a devoted man of God, adoring husband and most generous and loving patriarch who oversaw 3 generations. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and granddaughter, Jonnae Nicole Taylor.

He is survived by his wife Jan (Powell) Metzger. Children, Denise Metzger, Brian (Diana) Metzger and Renee (Tom) Widmyer. 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 siblings.

He was an Army veteran, retired American Greeting executive and long-standing member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church parish. He was involved in building the rectory of the parish and always proud of the grotto he built on the parish grounds.

Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Monday, January 9, 2022, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin. Rosary service will be held at 8:30pm on Monday during the visitation.

Funeral mass will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, January 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
