Elmer C. Alsip, 93, of Corbin passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at his home.
He was born in Whitley County, a son of the late Alex S. and Mary M. Clark Alsip. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had been a logger and maintenance worker at Cumberland Falls State Park. He enjoyed hunting and time spent with his family - especially the children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons Larry Wayne "Bam" Alsip and Danny Alsip, daughters Mary Alsip Girdner and Lucy Alsip, grandchildren Robbie Alsip and Amy Estep, and several brothers and sisters.
Elmer is survived by his wife Mae Alsip; a daughter Jean Mason; sons Lee Alsip and wife Diane, Robert Alsip, Bill Alsip and wife Sheila; 16 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren; brothers Raymond Alsip and Charlie Alsip; and several nieces and nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9pm Wednesday. Elmer's life will be honored Thursday morning at 11am
by Rev. Michael Lee at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Bark Camp Cemetery near his home with military rites by the American Legion Post 88 Honor Guard. His children and grandchildren will be pallbearers.
