E.C. Burkhart, age 70, of Lily, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Lily, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ernest Ray Burkhart and Eula Jones Burkhart. E.C. was retired from Cummins Diesel in Columbus, Indiana. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran; and a member of D.A.V. Chapter 158 in Keavy, the V.F.W., and the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin and David Malcolm Burkhart; granddaughter, Erica Whitney Burkhart; and nephew, John Leonard.
He is survived by his wife, Toni Burkhart; children: James Michael Burkhart, Gayla Jean Burkhart, and Tracy Ann Figeuroa; step-children: Rebecca Ann Davis, Scott Edward Comer, and Todd Matthew Comer; grandchildren: Veronica, Keira, Darrian, Mackenzie, Trey, Isaiah, Paul, Rebecca, Lindsay, Kyle, Jenna, Zane, Kalia, Kelani, and Kai; two brothers: Donald W. Burkhart and Ernest Ray Burkhart Jr.; two sisters: Margie Alice McIntosh, and Elsie Fay Leonard; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in the Hopkins Cemetery with military honors by Keavy D.A.V. Chapter 158.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Saturday, April 26, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
