Emmit Coburne Turner Sr., age 72, of Keavy, KY, husband of Sylvia Josephine Turner for over 50 years, passed away on Sunday evening, November 28, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was the father of Emmit Coburne Turner Jr., Trish Turner, Chasta Hope Asher and James Edward Asher Jr., all of London, KY. Emmitt was the grandfather of two precious granddaughters, Maria Shae Asher and Molly Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Martha Turner; siblings, Jeanette, Mable, Virginia, Charlotte, Bernice, Woodrow, June, and Arland; and by a precious grandson, Coburne Lynn Turner. Born and raised in Harlan, Kentucky, he served two tours in Vietnam while in the US Army. Emmit retired from L&N and CSX Railroad after 17years of service.
He enjoyed trading guns and knives and he loved to spend time with his family especially his granddaughters.
Emmit loved to laugh and make jokes and never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Visitation for Emmit Coburne Turner will be from 12noon until 2pm on Friday December 3, 2021 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be at 2pm on Friday with Pastors Doug Lawson and James Asher officiating.
