Faylene Davenport Woods

Faylene Davenport Woods, age 86, passed away on Saturday, April 29,2023, at Baptist Health in Corbin.

She was born on May 27, 1936, in Yancy, Kentucky, a daughter to the late Lester and Allie Hoskins Davenport.  Faye was United in Marriage on September 30, 1953 to Harold Woods.  To this union eight children were born, seven daughters and one son.

She was a homemaker and a mother, but most importantly a devote Christian.  Faye was a member of the 19th Street Church of Christ in Corbin, KY.  She enjoyed cooking, attending church, and crocheting, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.  Faye was loved by everyone who met her and brought much happiness to those around her with keen sense of humor.  Faye was the happiest amongst her family listening to the stories being told and to the laughter surrounding her.  She believed a tight family is priceless.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Woods, two daughters, Sandy Rochelle Woods and Linda Ailene Woods, brothers, E.J. Davenport, Burl Davenport, and Archie Davenport,  one son-in-law, Frank Moore, and by two granddaughters, Amy North and Suzanna Michelle Mills.

She is survived by her six children, Brenda Mills and husband Mike of Corbin, KY, Carol Nevels and husband Joety of Whitley City, KY, Freda North and husband Jay of Corbin, KY, Teresa Moore of London, KY, Michael Woods and wife Sheila of Lily, KY, and Joy Fields and husband Keith of Leesville, SC, sister, Betty Medlin and husband Johnny of Gray, KY, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation for Faye will be held from 12noon until 2pm on Friday May 5, 2023, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held at 2pm with David Scott officiating.  Burial will follow with her grandsons serving as pall bearers.
