Flem D. McFarland, age 85, passed away on Saturda,y February 8, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born in Whitley County and honorably served in the Army Air-Corps and the US Army in both World War II and Korea. He was a Christian by Faith and a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. McFarland was preceded in death by his Parents, Otis McFarland and Bertie Lay McFarland; Brother, Junior McFarland; and Sisters, Nannie Rains and Dexter Helton.
He is survived by his Sons, Mike McFarland and Brian McFarland; Grandchildren, Tabitha McFarland, Joshua McFarland, Josiah McFarland, Jonathan McFarland, Kari Dunbar, Laura Landin, and Emily McFarland; Great Grandchildren, Jada and Levi McFarland, Calvin and Anthony King, Eliza and Chase McFarland, Christa and Joshua Landin, and Troy Dunbar; Sister, Avery Howard; and by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friend.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Bro. Joshua McFarland officiating.
Burial will follow in the Perkins Cemetery in Woodbine, KY.
Visitation will be from 6-9pm on Tuesday, Feb. 11th at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home where messages may be written to the family at www.vankirkgrisellfuneralhome.com
