Galen "Papaw" Carpenter, 60, of Corbin, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Hildreth and Grace Cadle Carpenter. He had worked as a coal miner and as an electrician, and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette "Cricket" Carpenter; son, Steve Mollett; daughter, Mindy Carpenter; grandchildren, Stephen Mollett, Briana Mollett, and Jensen Carpenter; sister, Melody Boswell and husband Bruce; and brother, John Carpenter and wife Bridget, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 13, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Mills and Rev. Roger Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollins Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Monday, July 12, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin.
