Gary Lee Jackson

Gary Lee Jackson, age 58, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Norton Pavillion Hospital in Louisville, KY. 

Gary's zest for life was infectious, and he had a unique ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life. His hobbies showcased his diverse interests and talents. Gary's love for fishing mirrored his patience and tenacity. His skill of working on model cars highlighted his meticulous nature and attention to detail, while his craftwork was a testament to his artistic flair. In the kitchen, Gary could whip up mouthwatering dishes that brought people together; his love for cooking was a beautiful expression of his nurturing spirit. 

Family and faith were the cornerstones of Gary's life. His love for his family was profound and unwavering, and his faith was his guiding light. His actions always reflected his deep-rooted values, and he strived to make a positive impact on the lives of those around him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jackson and Florence Lawson Jackson, a brother, John Jackson, Jr., and his sister, Brenda Foster. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Erica Lee Jackson of Corbin, brothers, Wayne Jackson (Fredia) of Barbourville, Frank Jackson (Diana) of Corbin, and Steve Jackson (Michelle) of Indiana, brother-in-law, Blake Tompkins (Merkie) of Corbin, and by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. 

Burial will follow at Stansbury Cemetery in Corbin, with Scottie Honeycutt, Paul Honeycutt, J.C. Keith, Ryan Tompkins, Andrew Davis, and Brayden Tompkins serving as pallbearers.
