Gary L Masters

d. December 13, 2018

Gary L. Masters, age 68, of Corbin, went home to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2018, while on vacation in Florida.
He was a former office clerk at the US Postal Service with 35 years of service.  He was a 1968 graduate of Corbin High School, where he played on the baseball team and attended the University of the Cumberlands.  He was a member of 17th Street Christian Church where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher of the BYKOTA class, helped with the youth group, trustee, served on the bereavement committee, coached women's softball and played men's softball.  Gary was an avid UK fan, especially for the basketball and football teams where he often attended the games or watched on TV.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife since retirement and attended many gospel concerts.  Gary was known for telling jokes.  He said his goal in life was to make people laugh, and he did that well.
Gary was preceded in death by his Parents, Kenneth Masters and Ruth McVay Masters; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Betty Smith.
He is survived by his loving Wife, Donna Smith Masters; Sister, Edna Wilson of Corbin; Brother-in-law, Dr. David E. Smith and wife Lorry of Nicholasville; three Nephews, Adam Bryant of Corbin, Andy Smith and fiancee Brittany Hall of Lexington, and Max Smith and wife Hillary of Lexington; two Nieces, April Chadwell of Corbin and Emily Smith of Washington D.C.; and by his Aunt, Karen Carroll and husband Troy of Corbin.
A Celebration of Life Service for Gary L. Masters will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at the 17th Street Christian Church with Bro. Ronnie Blevins, Bro. Bob Berry, and Bro. Randy Wickham officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 11am until 2pm at 17th Street Christian Church in Corbin.  Arrangements by the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where messages may be written to the family at vankirkgrisellfuneralhome.com
