Gary Wayne Goins

Gary Goins, 84, from Corbin, Ky passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Gary also cherished all of his family and countless friends.

Gary is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy Flinchum Goins, his son Charles Alan (Chuck) Goins, his daughter Stacy Robin Pierce (Eddie), grandson Nicholas Alan Goins and great-grandchildren Sadie Lane & Tucker Reed Goins, sisters Judy Mitchell (Willard), Brenda Martin and brother Dallas Goins, all of Corbin, Ky.

A native of Corbin, Gary resided in Frankfort, KY where he retired from the Kentucky State Police as Major with 38 years of dedicated service. He served as Post Commander at post 10 (Harlan), post 9 (Pikeville), Supply Section, and on the board of directors at Trooper Island. He lived and breathed the "Thin Grey Line". Gary also served in the US Army, the 101st Airborne Division, and was proud to serve his country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Ella Goins, sister, Donna Williams, and brothers, Dennis & Larry Goins.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 29th at Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Corbin, Ky. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 - 2:00 with the funeral service immediately following visitation. Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton will officiate, and pallbearers will be Dallas Goins, Jim Lacefield, Tony Mitchell, Larkin Mitchell, Kevin Goins, and Kyle Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Pierce, Thomas McKnight, Colin Harrell, Leonard Shepherd, and Scott Shepherd. The burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery
