Gene Alsip

Gene Alsip, age 90, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Corbin Health and Rehabilitation.

Born in Williamsburg, KY, he was a son to the late Charles Alsip and Myrtle Williams Alsip. Gene was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served with the 3083d Support Squadron - California. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Gene was true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and time on the lake. He had a passion for guns and archery, and he was very talented with both. He loved just about any fury critter and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Eugene Alsip, and a grandson, Benjamin Alsip.

He is survived by his wife, Mary McKnight Alsip, children, Charles Alsip, Kenneth Alsip, Donna Gemino (Jimmy), and Dan Alsip (Polly); ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and by a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1-3pm on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow on Friday at 3pm with Rev. Larry Sowders officiating.

Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, KY with military honors conducted by Keavy D.A.V. - Chapter 158.
