Geoffrey Shell, 85, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Eastern Kentucky Veteran's Center in Hazard.
Born in Chappel, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Joe and Stella Morgan Shell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Martha Lou Shell on Jan. 15, 1946; three brothers, Enoch, James and Dillard; and one sister, Millie Howell.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the D.A.V., and was a faithful member of the Indian Creek Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Ophie Howard Shell, whom he married on May 11, 1945; two sons, Lonnie Shell and Leslie Shell, both of Corbin; two granddaughters, Lisa Johnson of Idaho and Angela Walters of Corbin; one grandson, Kevin Shell of Corbin; four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; two sisters, June Walters and husband Charles and Lucy Buchanon; and one brother, Morgan M. Shell.
Funeral service will be at 1 pm Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Bro. John Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Howard Cemetery on Level Green Road in Keavy.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Friday, April 4, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
